JagFest was created in January 2021 by Samantha Villarreal, Barry Chapman, and Chris Travis as a way to honor and celebrate the life of Jag Baichan and the incredible impact he made on our community. What began as a Celebration of Life quickly grew into something much greater.
The first JagFest was held on March 20, 2021 — Jag’s birthday. It was a vibrant community festival featuring a live DJ, local musicians, raffle prizes, food, drinks, merchandise, and a dedicated Kid’s Zone complete with a bounce house, face painting, Kona Ice, and games. The outpouring of support was overwhelming, and the event was a tremendous success. JagFest returned in 2022 and 2023, each year bringing the community together in remembrance, celebration, and service.
In 2024, we made a strategic and intentional shift. Rather than hosting one large annual festival, we transitioned to multiple smaller events throughout the year. This change allowed us to better support our dedicated committee, create sustainable growth, and generate funds more consistently. Most importantly, it enables us to provide ongoing support to our beneficiaries year-round rather than through a single annual effort.
While the structure evolved, the name JagFest remains — now serving as the umbrella for all fundraising events throughout the year.
Today, JagFest includes two annual Cornhole Tournaments held on the last Sunday of April and the last Sunday of October, along with some Bingo Nights throughout the year. In Summer 2026, we will host our first Bowling Tournament, and we look forward to expanding even further with plans for a Golf Tournament and a formal Gala in the future.
We are excited about this evolution and the expanded opportunities it creates to further the mission of The Jag Baichan Memorial Foundation — honoring Jag’s legacy by continuing to give back and make a meaningful difference in our community.
